The Cairns Esplanade is a 2 kilometre hub of activity from dawn to dusk for both locals and tourists alike. The Esplanade is home to Muddy's and the Cairns Lagoon. Muddy's provides a fun and interactive water park aimed at children, although parents are often found splashing around too! The Cairns Lagoon is a 4 hectare area which houses an idyllic infinity style swimming area. The Lagoon is open daily from 6am till 10pm and is a very popular spot to soak up the Tropical North sunshine and enjoy a refreshing and cooling dip in the crystal clear waters. World heritage rainforest with great walking treks and rivers that you can take exciting rafting trips down. Spectacular beaches are just a short drive North of Cairns. Palm Cove provides a picturesque setting with an aqua blue sea, golden sand and over-hanging palm trees. There are also various restaurants and bars situated along the beach front, not to mention 5-star luxury resorts. Trinity beach is slightly closer to Cairns and is a locally renowned 'trendy' spot for the young and young at heart with its' swimming area, water sports activities, pubs, restaurants and bars. Port Douglas is a must. With its' boutique shops, galleries and stylish restaurants, Port Douglas is the ideal spot for the more discerning traveller.
