Tour departs MONDAYS & THURSDAYS (May to November)
Our journey takes us along the scenic Great Barrier Reef Drive from Cairns between the World Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef and the Wet Tropics Rainforest. Cross the Daintree River by cable ferry for a leisurely drive through this ancient land. A tasty morning tea stop is made along the way at Cape Tribulation Beach - named by Captain Cook as "here our troubles began".
Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with fascinating stories and history as we travel along the famous 4WD-only Bloomfield Track. We engage 4WD as we navigate creek crossings and steep mountain ranges.
Enjoy lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel; one of Queensland’s landmark pubs build in 1875.
Arrive in historic Cooktown in the early afternoon; the site of Captain Cook’s 1770 landing. We visit Grassy Hill for panoramic views of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and Endeavour River. Explore Cooktown as you wish enjoying the stunning scenery & intriguing heritage of this frontier town.
Enjoy up to two hours in Cooktown before transferring to Cooktown Airport for your return flight. Your flight departs at 5:45pm, arriving at Cairns General Aviation Airport at 6:30pm. During our winter months (May-August) the flight is experienced after sunset.
