SILVERSONIC – Dive & Snorkel
Travel review submitted by: KE (Submitted, 9th November 2014) – Silversonic
We made our own way to the marina as we had stayed in Port Douglas the night before. Silversonic is easy to find and the staff were very warm in their greeting. After a smooth and straight forward check in at the Quicksilver shop we headed on down to the boat. We had to wait a little on the wharf as boarding only starts 8:15am sharp.
We left the marina at 8.30am on a perfect 5 knots day and headed straight out to outer side of Agincourt Reef, a location only possible on an extremely good day. Briefings are done on the way out and we arrived at our first dive site at 10 am. Although being offered to buddy up and ‘do our own thing’ we decided to join the group of certified divers. Visibility was at its best, a good 30/35m easily.
There is a marine biology talk on the upper deck on the way to the 2nd site.
A hot and cold buffet lunch is served half way through the second site. Snorkellers eat first, then the certified divers. We skipped the second dive and decided to rather enjoy a longer lunch break and relax a little on the sun deck.
The last dive site for the day was a running drop for the divers for a drift dive along a wall.
Tea, coffee and cake were being served before heading back to Port Douglas, where we arrived at 4.30pm.
